Why Your Law Firm Website Design Is So Important

Lawyer Practicing Law Firm Website Design On Computer.Navigational Principles and Website Layout

Content may be king, but the navigational principles and layout of your law firm website design are also important. Within seconds of landing on your website, a visitor will build a strong opinion based on how easily information can be accessed. This immediately determines how much time the visitor will spend on your site.

While your website must be pleasing to the eye, it also needs to be easy to use and navigate. Your website design must be based on the convenience of the user, not based on your convenience.

Law Firm Website Design

One major mistake that many law firms make is designing their legal website to look like an ode to the firm and not catering to user experience. Make sure to provide a landing page that gives visitors information they need. For instance, a bankruptcy law firm should provide links and navigation to advice on avoiding foreclosure or guides to Chapter 11 restructuring. The idea is to have a website that is user-friendly and helps prospective clients, while still reflecting your corporate ethos and practice.

There may be certain topics that visitors to your website find most useful. These topics should be placed as prominently as possible on the main page. For easy access, it is also important to provide tabs that link to topic pages.

Your law firm website must also offer users access to other promotional materials and information about your company. This can include links that direct users to monthly newsletters, e-books, guides, and other resources.

Make contact information and calls-to-action visible and prominent on the website. Strategically placed contact information or an option to call the law firm is a necessity. If you offer a 24-hour live chat support service, the chat box should also be clearly visible. The chat box should be placed in a position that is accessible, but not intrusive.

The goal of good law firm website design is to ensure that the visitor stays on the website as long as possible. This is to ensure that the visitor will learn more about your law firm. In return, this increases the chances the visitor will take the next step and make the first phone call.
